There Will Be Blood

Very good. The baptism scene and the last few moments were very intense. Although Daniel Day-Lewis was flawless as Plainview, Paul Dano was just as good as Eli. Except for the scenes with Plainview's "brother" (those just bored me to tears), there is very little I can say about this film that is really negative.

One question: where was Eli's brother? I thought it was strange how he showed up in the beginning and was never seen again.

Doesn't Eli say in the fight with his dad that his brother took the money that Plainview gave him and left town? I think that's what I recall. Daniel Day-Lewis was great in this, I think he was actually channeling John Huston during the film!

I liked this film also, and from what I remember Lenny is right. His brother took the money and disappeared.

It's sad the relationship between father and son and how it turned out.

Difficult film to watch, but very well done.

I don't think it could have turned out any other way - not unless Plainview changed.

While watching, I kept waiting for him to show some sort of redeeming quality or have an epiphany that would change his course of destructive behaviour. Now, I'm glad the director stayed with the character as it was. It made for a more powerful statement. I still see (and hear) that scene when the son walks away with Plainview screaming after him.

Did anyone else think it had elements of Citizen Kane?
