Recently Purchased/Borrowed

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte: I own a copy of this book but it is in bad condition- yellow pages and torn edges. I’ll keep the old one, a beautifully illustrated hardback edition, and read the newer copy I bought today.

Sister Carrie by Theodore Dreiser
Such a Long Journey by Rohinton Mistry

I own Jane Eyre too, but it's in the Barnes and Noble Charlotte Bronte collection, so it's this massive book that's entirely too difficult to hold....Sister Carrie is a good buy too :) (Never heard of Such a Long Journey, though).

My recent buys are Twelfth Night, Nervous Conditions by Tsitsi Dangarembga, The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison, and The Woman Warrior by Maxine Hong Kingston. All for class though :( I haven't had any time to read anything on my own.

I just bought Pygmy and am part way through it but the writing is getting on my nerves so I think I will put it aside for a while and start Blonde by Joyce Carol Oates. I just finished her Black Girls White Girls and also have on my to be read list her books: Rape, a Love Story and Missing Mother. I really enjoy her work - what I have read of it - which is quite a few. I hope to read through her entire list of books and short stories.
