You know you're addicted to reading when...

You know you are addicted to reading when...

you start telling a friend about something that you did or that happened to you in the past, then you stop yourself, and say "Wait. No. That was in a book I read."

Whenever I get a purse it has to have enough room for a decently sized book. I get guys that make fun of me for having a big purse and when they ask what I keep in it I say, 'Books.' I always bring a book with me whenever I go out in case I go somewhere with an extra minute to get some reading in, or if I am going to a restaurant.

That's my purse requirement too basically. Only I'm a petite woman and look funny with huge purses so I go with "big enough to hold a standard paperback". I hate being caught without a book in a boring moment.

definately!

another one that just happened:

you can't find ANYTHING on your favorites list because it's so crammed with links to pages that sell books you want. So you can't even find the book you're looking for that you want NOW although you'll want a different one tommorow.

Goodreads is starting to solve that for me. I usually borrow rather than buy so it works. Wish lists on amazon are great too.

You go to the pub with friends and spend the first ten minutes looking at the books lining the shelves. Luckily my friends have gotten used to it and don't mind me ignoring them for a bit!

You don't mind eating dinner alone in a restaurant as long as you have a book.

You rather like it when your friends are late so you can keep reading while waiting for them.

I do that at other people's houses....I was flummoxed once to find people who had one book, the dictionary (yes I read the dictionary, they were watch baseball boooring )

I actually make lunch dates with myself and a good book sometimes (I usually eat dinner with my boy).

And finally, yes, unless they're really late..then I worry (channeling my inner mother I suppose).

So I was at a BBQ on Sat and was sitting looking through my two new books I had just purchased and an elderly lady comes up to me and asks me if I like reading,I start to hyperventilate and say yes, then she tells me she has about 300 hundred of them in her garage and has been trying to get rid of them and if I am interested in emptying them out for her....*gulp* I said yes and we went walking to her house so I can take a look first.

This is what I carried home and today I am taking the CRV over there.:D Me elated.

Alfred Hitchcock-Best of Mystery

D.H. Lawrence-5 books in a beautiful hard cover tome.

Hyperventilating when you hear about 300 books kept unwated in a garage.

I don't know if anyone has wrote this one or not yet but..

When you're so engrossed in your book you don't see someone steal your pizza from your plate (right in front of you :])
