I've got Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell now too, but haven't even considered tackling it yet. I read Huck Finn for school and hated it, but I suspect if I read it again now, without the mandatory aspect, I'd probably enjoy it more.

There was a time when I would have considered Bukowski God, too, but not these days. There will always be a special place in my poetry-loving heart for the man, though. :) I do prefer his poetry.
Lavondyss by Robert Holdstock. You mentioned in another thread that you had read Mythago Wood but it didn't seem like you had read the sequel. I prefer Lavondyss because he takes the idea he presented in Mythago Wood and runs away with it, producing some of the most beautiful prose I have ever...
Stewart, I think I am going to forget about Tolkien. To be honest I've never been remotely interested in reading him at all, but I do own his books (thanks to my husband, the LoTR freak) and they will probably forever remain in the Unread Pile.

I am currently in one of those slumps too, but I'm moving to Dublin by van and ferry on Saturday so maybe I'll get some reading done, although in recent years I haven't enjoyed reading while travelling at all. I drive my husband crazy wanting to talk the whole time.
I probably read about twenty books a year, not counting all the individual poems and short stories I also read due to my addiction to web magazines. I still have about 90 books I haven't read yet and another 290+ on my Amazon wishlist. :rolleyes:
