speaking soley for myself, i beleive once a forum becomes established, and draws a crowd of 'regulars', newcomers often feel intimidated by the 'regulars' and don't want to intrude.
Dean Koontz?
I just finished "Odd Thomas" by Dean Koontz,
I was under the impression that he was a horror writer.
while this book had elements of the supernatural in it, it was by no means a horror novel.
so what genre does Koontz fall into?

ooo, i loved I, Claudius too.
for those of you who like Sott's Ivanhoe, you might want to try his Quentin Durwood, if you haven't already.
some others; The Jewel in the Crown, The Golden Strangers by Henry Treece ("Set in the grey, twilight world of the Stone Age, the story of a young...

its set in the same world as sword of truth, but follows zed and a new character instead of the normal plot lines.

well, i just finished his DragonCrown War Cycle, which begins with The Dark Glory War, and ends with The Grand Crusade.
it was, for the most part, a pretty good read.
others i have read from him include Talion:Revenant and Silvereyes.
I REALLY enjoyed Talion:Revenant
Sword of Shannara is a pretty blatant ripoff of LotR, but the rest is not.
As far as the question about whether to read the rest of the series, each is a different set. By that i mean that Brooks the different series in completely different times from the others, close enough that there is some...
i was speaking of how badly Sci-Fi Network has hacked up others stories.
most notably Phillip Jose Farmer's Riverworld.
Their re-make of Battlestar Galactica sucked a big load of hooey too.
