Thriller based in salisbury Plain (i believe)

Thanks for that. Isn't it annoying when you try and remember about a book you read so long ago, and they start to get confused with other books you read around the same time!! Perhaps that is just me!;) Thanks for putting me out of my misery!!

Thriller based in salisbury Plain (i believe)

I am trying to think of the name of a book i read a few years ago. I always thought it was The Fog by James Herbert, but i now don't think it was. It was about a crack in the ground that appeared swallowing half a street up. From this large crack in the ground a kind of mist or fog appeared...

    Currently Reading

I am reading Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell, by Susanna Clarke. A bit slow starting, but i am only about 170 pages in. I have seen on another thread, that was to be expected, so i will persevere.

Lemony Snicket: A Series of Unfortunate Events

I have only read the first of these books so far, and must admit i didn't enjoy it as much as i had expected too. I found the authors explanation of words to be extremely annoying. I understand he is aiming at a young audience, but even so, if he felt kids would not understand the words he...

Lemony Snicket: A Series of Unfortunate Events

I really do need something light after LOTR ( on third book now). My hubby found it very difficult to enjoy a book, ofr ages after finishing the trilogy, he enjoyed them so much!! I will give them a bash!! It's good to see there is only one person (so far) who didn't enjoy them!!

    Richard Laymon

I read a few of his books a while back, but only 1 stands out in my mind. It is about something happening to a woman in a university campus under a tunnel. I think this was the same book, where the main character takes to wandering the streets at night, and starts following a young girl, who...

Alice Sebold: The Lovely Bones *spoilers*

I read this book a while ago, and thought it was really good. I loved the whole way it was told from the main character sitting in heaven watching her family and friends come to terms with her death. I also read Lucky, which, again was a great book too. It took a lot of guts for Alice Sebold...

    Robert Ludlum: The Bourne Identity

I have only read the first book, and never got round to the sequels. I did try to start the second one, but i felt i needed a break from it to get into it properly. I also hated the film!! How it was known by the same name as the book i will never know, as most of the story was missing...

    Philip Pullman: His Dark Materials

I read this series a while back, and was amazed to find this was aimed at children. I found the whole story to be very complex and not sure i would have understood it completely at the age of 12. I thoroughly enjoyed them though, and would recommend them to all adults!

    J.K. Rowling

I think she will continue writing. She has said there may be a kind of spin off harry POtter, bacuase she has a lot of background information on the characters that was never slotted into the books, so perhaps a kind of harry Potter encyclopedia!! I think she is quite keen to try her haned at...
