Coffee

I usually limit myself to one or two cups a day. On work days, I get a large with 1 cream at the drive-through of Tim Horton's.

At home, I only use Fair Trade brands (usually from Level Ground). It's more expensive, but I figure at 1 or 2 cups a day I can afford it. Filtered drip.

Had a delicious cup made with a French press when out a restaurant once. Come to think of it, maybe I'll put it on my next birthday wish list. :)

Moto, I've been to a Bad Ass Coffee cafe in Hawaii. Excellent Kona coffee. They also have delish Donkey Balls (chocolate-covered macadamia nuts). If you open a franchise, I just might have to come visit you! :D

I always thought it was catty-corner....and what's this Tom Horton's...both you and ell mentioned it...

and...it's nice to see both Jenem and ell back at TBF...

tim horton's are a canadian landmark. we are as proud of tim's as we are of the maple leaf, the beaver, hockey(as a matter of fact tim horton was a hockey player) beer etc. there is huge debate over whether tim's is actually good coffee, but most people are addicted and can't get through the day without a double-double.

french press see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_press

supposed to be THE best way to make coffee..

It's not. It lacks the pressure needed to make really good coffee. The king of coffee is espresso. Rich and dark. It's the strongest and most flavourful of all coffees. The best way to enjoy coffee is that made in an espresso maker ( either stove top or machine ). The higher the pressure the better the coffee.

Here is a stove top coffee maker ( these are popular and used throughout Italy and Spain. Two countries that are passionate and know good coffee, how to make it.

If it's not espresso ( or a drink created using espresso as a base - such as cappuccino ) then it's just coffee flavoured water.

On a side note: Been to America many times and the coffee is absolutely horrible! It's so weak and flavourless. Not that it's very good here in the U.K either :p Also Americans seem insistent on drinking really bizarre concoctions. Flavoured coffee? They have odd names like "French romance" that comes flavoured with vanilla. Disgusting :p

As for instant! That's an abomination

I'll be in Spain soon! Mmm GOOD coffee.

Stay away from the robusta beans by any company, absolutely garbage coffee.

In a quick interweb read, I found that arabica beans are grown at higher altitude and are considered to be of higher quality, yet the robusta, while lessor quality, and grown at lower altitudes, has a higher caffeine level...so depending on what you are drinking coffee for, taste, or the coffee/caffeine buzz you may want to investigate your beans of choice....

There are MANY kinds of coffee beans grown in the world. Robusta isn't really a horrible bean because it's used in, and is integral, to many espresso blends because it adds to the "creama" It's often used in blends for this property.

Arabica is a very basic and popular bean. It's good tho. I often drink and Italian espresso blend made with 100 percent Arabica bean.

The company I buy my coffee from is a coffee specialist who imports from all over the world. They are called Has Bean Coffee

2 of my favourite coffees are:

Brazil Fazenda Cachoera Borbon ( SOUTH AMERICAN )
Brazil Fazenda Cachoeira pure Bourbon is a balanced coffee, with hints of toffee and caramel, It’s a multi talented coffee which can be enjoyed as much in the morning as it can after your evening meal. This award winning coffee, is a fantastic addition to the has bean range. If you're not drinking this why not? Medium to Medium Dark Roast.

Indian Monsoon Malabar ( INDIAN )
So called, because Monsoon coffees are stored in special warehouses in the port town of Malabar, until the monsoon season comes around. The sides of the structure are then opened and moist monsoon winds circulate around the picked green beans making them swell in size and take on a mellowed but aggressive, musty flavour. It turns very pale in colour and becomes very brittle. Difficult to roast but then, that's our problem. You'll get the most unusual tasting coffee that we've found so far. Medium to Dark Roast.

I drink about 6 cups of espresso a day. Sometimes more. Or if it's hot then I drink iced coffee. I sometimes make a mocha or a cappuccino.

... now you know why my bunny is always bouncing :D

I've had more coffee over the years then I care to admit. Hot coffee, ice coffee, strong coffee, weak coffee, coffee that was on the burner long enough you had to stir it with stainless because because we were afraid of what might happen to a plastic spoon if you put it in the cup. The first time I saw ice coffee was in a vending machine in Japan. Come to think of it, that machine had both cold and hot coffee in the same machine.

Coffee drinkers are a funny bunch. There are many guys I"ve known that I can't ever remember seeing without a coffee mug in their hand. I think their finger was stuck in that little hook used to hold a mug for long periods of time. I remember one guy that should have done away with his cup all together and gone straight to an IV hanging over his desk. That guy was a hard core coffee drinker. Then there are the guys that thought putting anything in ones coffee was something akin to a mortal sin.

Two times I really want to be in the kitchen is when a new jar of peanut butter if opened and of course, when a new bag of coffee if opened. It just doesn't get any better then that.

I drink a mug of coffee most nights, I am not addicted to it, or caffine rather, and the best coffee can be found at a cafe in the small town I live near.

I was addicted to it years ago. You would be surprised how much coffee a body can drink when you're working 20 hour days. I didn't realize I was addicted until I tried not having any, then pow, down for the count. The worse headache I've ever had, and a sick stomach to keep that company. I hope I never go through that again.

i used to drinks loads of coffee...but now i am down to one, sometimes 2 a day. nothing beats that perfect cup....if it's not exactly how i like it at first sip, i have to start fresh...mmmm...coffee, nector of the gods...

Love me some coffee!

I think I am addicted. If I don't have a cup by 11:00 or so I get a bad headache. That doesn't happen very often, though!

I drink mine black, no sugar, no artificial flavoring, no crap, just ground up beans and hot water, thank you! I like it "burn-your-f***ing-lips-off" hot.

Starbucks is okay, but I have to put a couple of sugars in it. I tried a pound of Kona from one of those "grind your own bean" stations at the grocery store. I really liked it. One thing I hate, though, is chicory blended coffee (I think Louisian does that. Nasty IMH-BA-O)

I would absolutely visit a "Badass Coffee Shop" if I saw one. No question about it. The name alone would lure me in.

I have been really disappointed since I moved here to Northern Virginia. There aren't any cozy little, come-in-and-sit-awhile coffee shops that are open early, or late. The closest we have is a Denny's, and I'd prefer no coffee to Denny's coffee.

Good luck, Moto. Franchising is definitely the way to go! When I get through your neck of the woods, I would like to come have a cup with you!

Edit: didn't answer all of your question: I have made iced coffee at home. Must have cream and sugar for iced coffee. I also like the "Mocha" iced thing at "Books-a-Million". Recently, I tried the "Moo-Late" from Dairy Queen (Mocha made with chocolate Ice Cream). I wouldn't consider it a "coffee" drink, but god damn it was good! Probably not too fattening, either! ;)
