We're doing a clean out for moving and I claimed these for myself from my mum's shelf:

Norwegian Wood - Haruki Murakami (I'm the only one who has read it anyway)
Sleepers - Lorenzo Carcaterra (ditto for this one, plus I have the second one already)
Sunset Song - Lewis Grassic Gibson (wanted to read for a while)
The Men of Ness - Eric Linklater (an orkney book)
Lion's Heart - Sissel Lie (another Orkney book)

Instead of throwing stuff out I'm gaining stuff. :p

I just picked up Notes on a Scandal by Zoe Heller today on my dinner break at work. It's made its way to the top of my TBR list!

That was an old BOTM pick for us a few months back. You might want to search it out and add your own thoughts and observations.

As for me-just purchased Blaze by Richard Bachman(Stephen King) I purchased it as a I was tired of Eyezonme badgering me to buy it. He kept saying it was great and that I should not be so cynical about King's current works. I ordered it Eyez, are you happy now!?:D

Also purchased The Great Depression 1929 by John Kenneth Galbraith. Don't know why, but I'm in a non-fiction mood as of late.

The Book of Fate- Brad Meltzer
Purple Hibiscus- Chimamanda Ngozie Adichie (read..very good)
Half of a Yellow Sun- Chimamanda Ngozie Adichie (read...Excellent!!!)
A Caribbean Tale- Rudy Gurley (currently reading)

Bought the following as my summer-reads:

Special topics in calamity physics - Marisha Pessl
The secret life of bees - Sue Monk Kidd
The thirteenth tale - Diane Setterfield

Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne: I got this copy (with gilded edge, like new, hardback) for 80 ¢. :D

Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood: Used, softback for 80 ¢.

Great purchase. ;)

Yesterday I popped into the second hand bookstore and came out with:

Cosmic Dispatches - Edited by John Noble Wilford. Basically it's a collection of articles on astronomy and cosmology that appeared in The New York Times.

The Other Boleyn Girl - Phillipa Gregory

The Great Train Roberry and The Andromeda Strain - Michael Crichton.

Went to the Salvation Army yesterday and left the store with a very heavy backpack.

The Amber Spyglass - Philip Pullman
The Great Fire - Shirley Hazzard
Until I Find You - John Irving
I Am Charlotte Simmons - Tom Wolfe
The Mists of Avalon - Marion Zimmer Bradley

The top two I don't know much about but they seemed good. The other three I pretty much know all about and I'm excited to get to them.

All these for a grand total of.... $2.50!!!:D I love the Salvation Army.;)
