Any way Foyles might consider opening a US branch, say in the SC Kansas metropolis of Wichita? Looks like another great haul you've got there.

The Samurai - Shusaku Endo
I though you already had this. I'm sure I remember asking you about it a year or so back.

Anyway, for me:

  • The Log From The "Sea Of Cortez", John Steinbeck

Close to finishing my Steinbeck collection now. :)

Black Swan Green - David Mitcheel (Even though I already read it, which makes the purchase both stupid and sad)

Cloud Atlas - David Mitchell

Everything Is Illuminated - Some dude (Hardcover $1 at the library--was a steal)

Gosh, I'm poor. Back to the library I go.

I doubt it, this one only hit my radar screen recently. Perhaps you're mixing it up with 'Silence' or 'Scandal' by the same author? Or perhaps I did a while back?

Yes, perhaps Silence. I've been toying with buying The Samurai for well over a year now since nobody else browsing my Borders seems to want it. The Peter Owen Modern Library edition - those dark covers with olive slats that are a bit spooky.

Those covers are probably my favourite amongst contemporary publishing and Peter Owen also have one of the best catalogues. I've discovered a number of favourite authors after those distinctive covers caught my eye...

In book buying news:

The Futurological Congress - Stanislaw Lem

I went to have a look at them again and wondered where I'd got the idea they were olive slats when they were nothing of the sort. Then I saw Anna Kavan's Sleep Has His House:
