Which Was the Last Book You Read in One Sitting?

I've never actually read a whole book in one sitting, but the closest I've come to it was when I read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I started reading from the moment I bought it, and only stopped to sleep in between. It took 2 days!

I love reading books in one sitting. Last weekend I managed to get through both Oryx and Crake, and Sweet Thursday. That was a good weekend.

I got through Prey by Michael Chriton in a matter of an evening. It was an interesting book. Normally the word "nanotechonogy" would send me into a snooze but this kept my attention.

I sat down last week and read Night by Elie Weisel in one sitting for school. It was pretty sad.

One sitting

I wish that I could read book in one sitting, but I have never been able to do that especially since I won't read a book that is under 300 pages. I guess that I am funny about that. Any tips on how to do it?

I read the last Princess Diaries book in one sitting, but I usually read all leisure books at one time anyway.

As for tips...I think you should just take the time to do it. Acknowledge that you will be sitting down reading for several hours, and then...do it. You have to be willing to take the time.

Hope that helps :)

Doesn't happen often and probably hasn't happened in a long, long time. I sat down to read Shuman's Lost Girls and finished it in one sitting. Even took it with me to the restroom. :)

I read I am Legend by Matheson yesterday, and it was a pretty quick read. I think I took a break to walk the dog, though...

Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali. I had been putting it off, thinking it would be one of those books that is too heavy, too overwhelming, etc.

It was not. It was an amazing story and I honestly couldn't put the book down until I had finished. Started yesterday morning, read until evening and I had run out of pages. (I was having a stay at home, sick day again.)

It's not an easy read due to the subject matter, heart breaking in places..but very, very well worth it. Yes, it is critical of Islam and shines a light on a lot of things us westerns would prefer not to think about as we are trying to come to an accord with Muslim's around the world...but hey, she's earned the right to criticize if anyone has.

I highly recommend it.

Read Survivor by Palahniuk in two large gulps, same day recently... Other than that I think I got through my owner's manual for my DVD player in one sitting... not sure if that counts...

In one day, several, though rarely. I have four kids at home so quiet reading time comes in fits and spurts and quite often late at night.

In one sitting, the last time was fifteen years ago. It was the Pelican Brief by John Grisham and I read it sitting in my next dorm neighbor's room my first year of college.

The last one I remember was DaVinci Code on a plane to Chicago and going to meet my husband who was there on a business trip.

Several weeks ago I sat down and read Christy Brown's autobiography, My Left Foot in one sitting. Unforgettable and inspirational.
