    Favourite Standalone Fantasy

New Author "The Elder Staves" by Steven Oliverez was stand alone, as far as I know. It wasn't bad either, especially for his first novel. Interesting ideas: check it out on Amazon.

    Andre Norton?

I've only ever read one book by Norton but it was very good, althogh a little dated. It is called Time Traders. Hope this helps.

Sorry Wabbit! I searched for stand alone fantasy but didn't see this. I was at work though so maybe I was sleeping. More suggestions would still be appreciated. Thanks for the ones so far. I am currently reading Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman which so of goes along with American Gods but can...

    Books to Movies?

These all sound great, providing they stick to the book and don't make too many changes. The more I think about it, a classic like The Stars My Destination or a remake of the movie fahrenheit 451 would be cool. I know it takes alot of work and money but that's what makes sci-fi/fantasy moveis...

    Edgar Allen Poe

I bought a collection of Poe's work years ago and never read it. Guess I'll have to give it a try.

I would suggest Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. It's not exactly romantic but it is certainly different and well worth the read.

    Books to Movies?

What book or books would you like to see adapted to the big screen. I would love to see a motion picture adaptation of American Gods by Neil Gaiman.

    Time travel

I suggest "The Door Into Summer" by Robert A. Heinlein. It's about a guy tricked into going into suspended animation for 30 years and when he gets out he discovers that he has the ability to travel back in time to get revenge. It's a good read. ;)
