O.K. look people, I appreciate what you're all doing here but we need to set things straight again.
Ronny: Yes, a whole turkey. Mine is good for up to a 16 pound turkey(although I think I recklessly did an almost 18 pounder once....it was a bit touchy right at first). Cooks all the way through....the basic practice is around 4 minutes per pound with your oil between 375 and 400 degrees. Flash sears the juices inside the bird almost instantly. Inject butter, or seasonings into the bird before cooking and it's awesome.
Mehastings: Cups? That's not a deep fryer....that's a Fry Daddy. Leckert and I are talking DEEP. Gallons. When I do a Turkey I make sure I have about 5 gallons of oil on hand. Usually end up needed somewhere between 3.5 and 4 gallons to cover the Turkey. I do have the smaller pot for the smaller items (anything that's not a full size turkey or chicken) but it still holds around a full gallon of oil. Propane heated...outside. No tiny little electric cord, not inside on countertop.
I think we need a TBF Turkey Fry. Leckert and I'll provide the turkeys....we'll need some p'tato salad, sweet p'tato's, corn on the cob, various assorted pies and rolls, cranbury sause, assorted veggies...but watch the beans....and beverages.....
