Recently Finished

The Closers by Michael Connelly. What I like about his book is that he gives you the clue then when he reveals the whodunit the you have to go back and think ah thats why. He doesn't explain it to you because he reveals the climatic scene then you have to remember what he foreshadow earlier. :star4:

To be fair, this book is targeted to the teen audience and I'm adult. Well I don't always act like and adult but chronologically I am an adult. More than likely if you're over 20, you'll not be crazy about this book.
 
Spook Country by William Gibson.

Good, not great. I've enjoyed some of his other books more (Neuromancer, Pattern Recognition, Virtual Light).
 
Mary Mary by James Patterson

A fast read. Good/Interesting story. My wife liked it, she doesn't read that often, but still she booknapped my copy.
 
:star5:It's dull, grey and dreary outside and I finished Justice hall curled up nice and warm in bed. Gorgeous book. Set in a grand stately English house, following a mystery that pulled at the heart strings. This series featuring Sherlock Holmes and Mary Russell by Laurie R King just gets better and better. This was book six and the best by far.
 
Just finished Josie Dew's Saddled at Sea. I have read several of her books and being a keen cyclist, was looking forward to some cycling tales. disappointingly, this was all about ships and the sea...You'd think the title would have given me a clue :)
 
Finished Dark Hollow by Brian Keene yesterday. Quick paced horror novel, predictable but enjoyable.

I've only read Pattern Recognition so far, but have Spook Country in the stack to read. I was surprised at how much I liked PR.

Finished The Claw of the Conciliator by Gene Wolfe. it is second book in series about Severian the Torturer. It is about far distant future after earth had some major cataclysm and society is back to like the middle ages. It seems like fantasy to me, what with swords and sorcery and stuff, but is called science-fiction. I read the whole series years ago and loved it, but only found second book as I get books from used bookshop and cannot find everything.
 
The Year of the Flood, Margaret Atwood

Fab follow-up on Oryx and Crake. Not really a sequel as portions of the two storylines overlap with some of the same characters at different times in their lives. Very interesting. I'm looking forward to a third and final book.
 
The Strangely Beautiful Tale of Miss Percy Parker by Leanna Renee Hieber

This is not the type of book that I would typically read. But it was a great read. It starts a little slowly but the ending will keep you up an hour or two just so you can finish it before you go to sleep. There's a second book in series. That one will go on my "wish" list of books.

Pontalba, somehow I missed this comment. :sad:

If you liked PR, you should like Spook Country - very much the same world. There is some overlap with the Hubertus Bigend character and Blue Ant. :)
