Cross Bones Kathy Reichs
I managed to read the rest of her series during the last few months, and really enjoyed her more that I thought. Had to get the last one. :D

The Night of the Triffids can't remember the author, but I enjoyed The Day of the Triffids I was compelled to purchase this book!

Why New Orleans Matters Tom Piazza
I'm from New Orleans, still live about 50 miles north, and love the place, and so hope it is rebuilt............but with necessary safeguards.

Oh, please do tell me what you think of this one when you are done. I bought it the other day, but haven't had the chance to read it yet.

Will do. Haven't started it yet, looks like a big read that I'll be able to get lost in.

Last week in someone recommended Crusaders Cross by James Lee Burke. Its part of the Dave Robicheaux series, and since I cannot begin at the end of the series, I went down to Ye Old Second Hand Book Store and purchased:

1988 Heaven's Prisoners
1989 Black Cherry Blues
1992 A Stained White Radiance
1993 In the Electric Mist with The Confederate Dead
1994 Dixie City Jam
1995 Burning Angel
1998 Sunset Limited
2000 Purple Cane Road

Since Heaven's Prisoner is the second in the series, I have to wait for Amazon to deliver the first one tomorrow, The Neon Rain (1987) and the the 4th A Mourning for Flamingos (1990).

Should keep me going for a bit. :D

 Think of your stash as 'margin' against boredom! Looks like a nice haul there.

I believe it was John Wyndham. Another good book of his, in my humble opinion, is 'The Chrysalids'. It's been a while - oh ok so it's been around 30 years - since I read it but it left an impression. If memory serves me right, it's in the future after a nuclear war and the life unfolds through the eyes of a young boy. The book explores mutations and the ever present role that prejudicism plays in life. I won't go on anymore as memory a little dim and I would hate to be accused of waffling

Yesterday I went to my Book Crossing meeting, and picked up I Have a Bed Made of Buttermilk Pancakes by Jaclyn Mariarty. Looks interesting.

Made the mistake of escorting my wallet into Foyles again today; just too many books I'd struggle to find elsewhere...

Under The Glacier by Halldor Laxness
The Master of Go by Yasunari Kawabata
The Concert by Ismail Kadare
Three by Georges Perec
The Wine of Youth by John Fante
Total Fears by Bohumil Hrabal

It's rare for me to find any Fante or Hrabal I haven't read yet so they're first...

I'm sorry for your wallet, but glad for you and the rest of us! Thanks for sharing the links, I added Under the Glacier to my amazon wish list and am seriously considering Fante as well. Oh to have Donald Trump's wallet for a day or two...:D

I put my thoughts on Fante in this thread:

I'm assuming you're new to Laxness, so I'd recommend Paradise Reclaimed and The Fish Can Sing as good places to start; obviously I haven't read Under the Glacier yet.
