Tragedy in London

My dad was in London during the IRA bombings and he said they used to have sniffer dogs patrolling every station and did random searches. I know full airport style security wouldn't be practicle but what about searching every 10th person? It would at least increase the likelihood of one of the bombers being caught - and so acting as a detterent and then they could warn all the other stations. Seems strange to me that this suggestion hasn't been discussed in the media or in any of the other official channels.

I completely understand why you feel the way you do but this is about ideology - money means nothing.

Hay, wait just a minute. How the hell can you say nothing useful came of it? How can you say that when a source of money has been cut off to the thugs. How can you say that when there are no longer mass murders of women and children. How can you say that when those torture chambers they called jails are no longer in operation. How can you say that when so many high level operatives have been captured. How can you say that in light of the fact that there have been democratic elections going on? Just because the job isn't finished yet, just because wmds were not found, doesn't mean nothing useful came of it.

And to keep things in perspective, the only time blanket bombing has been used was against the Iraqi army during the war. Never against innocent people.

We need to continue to develop intelligence to go after the leaders of these terrorist organizations.

As far as Afghanistan goes, we are still at war, just not as publicly/media-hyped as we are with Iraq.

Just because the job isn't finished yet, just because wmds were not found, doesn't mean nothing useful came of it.

Hi, can we please keep this thread away from the politics and religious aspects of all this. Please don't discuss Iraq etc. I know it's difficult. I want to vent just as much as the rest of you.

The last thing we want is this thread to descend into hate mongering and finger pointing. There are other places for that.

Let's keep the tread focused on the victims and our support for them and those that are trying to apprehend the bombers.
