What the most proverb do you believe in?

About me..I believe in this proverb-Time and tide wait fo no man.

What about you?

"With great power, comes great responsibility" - Spider man.

just kidding...

my prefered up to the moment is:

"Call no man happy until he is dead" - Herodotus (and extracted from American Gods - Neil Gaiman)

I have a few.
Living well is the best revenge.
What does not kill me makes me stronger.
Either the hammer or the anvil be.
Also I like the number one saying in Thailand, which is mai pen rai, which sort of means it does not matter, or no big thing.

Speak softly and carry a big stick.

Don't count your chickens before they are hatched.

This goes well with DarkRaven's contribution:

Forgive your enemies......but never forget their names. - JFK

"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."

George Bushes version was much more entertaining.

I don't have a proverb as such, but I think the words of wisdom that have struck me as most profound in the 35 years since I heard them as a student are the truth is worth nothing if nobody believes it.

(What the lecturer actually said was there's no difference between being wrong and being right if everybody thinks you're wrong, but that always seemed like a rather clumsy way of putting it.)
