do you keep a book list?

After reading all these posts, I am feeling very listless! The only book list I have is on a page in my 'attempt to be organized' notebook, which was generated by everyone on this site talking about books and authors they love to read! So all I've got is a 'List of Books and Authors I'd Like to...

Have you ever take inventory of how many books you ever read

I wish I had been keeping a list, it would have been interesting to look back. It would be in the thousands since I've always been an avid reader. Maybe I could start one now, some of the books are still here, but I've done a LOT of library borrowing over the years.

    favorite commercial

Yeah, thats a funny one too, I forgot about it. Another funny beer ad- Girl is trying to get guy to come up to bed, but hes glued to the TV, so she goes upstairs and then says, "Ive got the bud lite" (or whatever beer it was). The guy starts undressing and running upstairs, and hes going so...

    Lawns & The American Obsession

I have walked barefoot in my yard for four years now along with my two kids and have never been stung by anything. Our lawn gets mowed, but thats it. No fertilizer or bug or weed killers. I have 5 cats and they don't have fleas. In spring we have lots of dandelions, but to us, it just looks...

    favorite commercial

A few years back there was a beer commercial where a big dog wants to sit in his owners chair, so he takes the guy's beer and goes out on the patio. When the guy goes out to get the beer, the dog runs inside and shuts & locks the sliding door and gets in the chair. I also like the Starbucks...

    Avatars

When I picked a penguin, I, like Kookamoor, had no idea there was a problem with the little critters here. I started liking them when I had seen a documentary on penguins while recovering from surgery in the hospital, and they made me laugh for the first time in days. Also, Monty Python's...

And just to piss everybody off ...

I can't believe that cat stayed still for the picture! The few times I've had the displeasure of having to bathe one of my cats, either I get scratched to pieces or the cat is constantly trying to eject itself from the tub by attempting to jump or run. Love the cute kitty pictures. My...

    Comic books vs. books

Comic books have been a great help in getting my son to enjoy reading and want to read. He has a learning disability, and the comics made it so much easier and more fun for him. Part of it had to do with the fact that he could 'see' who was talking, and with the words broken up into small...

Hitcher's Guide to the Galaxy -how does the film compare?

I thought they did a great job bringing it to the big screen. It was different than the book, but like someone else here said, it was supposed to be. I do think it got a little weak in the end, and I would also have liked to see Marvin talk the ship into suicide! I really liked the opening...

    reccomendation needed

I second The Damnation Game by Barker, but I generally feel that way about any of his books. Also Cabinet of Curiosities by Preston & Childs I found hard to put down.

    Charlie and the Chocolate Factory...

I just saw a short commercial for this last night. Johnny Depp looks scary and kind of 'back from the dead' looking! I don't know if Willy Wonka is supposed to look that weird. And my daughter saw the trailer and said that the oompa-loompas are scarier than in the first film. I think we'll...

    Dean Koontz

Thanks for the info phil_t! And Rex, thanks for the advice, but I think I'll find out for myself, especially since you don't seem to want to expand on why you dislike him so much or even what books you have read of his. Which is fine, but I don't think I can take anyones advice based on the...

Anybody read The Haunting of Hill House?

It was "The Haunting". And the original is the one to see. The remake has all the special effects but none of the creepiness. "House on Haunted Hill" was the one where Vincent Price offers $10,000 dollars to anyone who can spend the night in his haunted house. Hope you enjoy the book, and...

    Dean Koontz

I haven't read any Koontz yet, but I've picked up several of his because of good things I've read here. Hopefully I will get one or two read this summer. :) Here's what I've got: Phantoms Watchers Lightning Night Chills Tick Tock Fear Nothing I was wondering if I should read 'Seize the...

How Many books in a year?

I'm guessing I get in about 30 a year. I'd love to read more if I didn't have other things to do. Gardening takes up a big chunk of spring/summer, as do kids and a house that always need attention. I've got a HUGE to-be-read list.(I think its up to 150 now). If I could only figure out how to...
