I plan on finishing it this week, but sometimes plans have a tendency to not work out the way we want them to, so we'll see...

So far, we have 15 titles seconded or suggested by more than one member:
The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler
The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky
One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez
Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote
Emma by Jane Austen
Hyperion by Dan Simmons
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt
From a Buick 8 by Stephen King
A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail by Bill Bryson
The Demon by Hubert Selby Jr
20th Century Ghosts by Joe Hill
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes
Lunar Park by Bret Easton Ellis
Perdido Street Station by China Mieville
Farewell My Lovely by Raymond Chandler

So how should we proceed? Do we put up a poll or do we ask people to third books?

Landslide,you are the best.:D

We can make a poll but we have to narrow it to 10 titles first.

My top three:
The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes

Thanks Libra

My three pics:
One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez
Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote
Emma by Jane Austen

My top 3 are:

Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt
20th Century Ghosts by Joe Hill

First two I own and I read Heart Shaped Box and enjoyed it. Most of the top 15 look good and the majority are available from my library.

So far, of the list of 15, we have the following books that were picked by more than one member:
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes
Perdido Street Station by China Mieville
Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote
20th Century Ghosts by Joe Hill

There are still a few members that haven't posted their picks from the list of 15. Should we give them a little more time or should we pick three more books, for example?

Let's give some time ,like meaybe another 5 days, for the other members to choose from the list then we can make a poll?

There are three on the list I nominated and one I seconded. I will stand pat, hoping someone will bring one or more of those along to the next round.

I hope I may participate in the discussion.

Out of the list of 15, my picks are:

One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Marcia Marquez
The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky
Hyperion by Dan Simmons

Updated list of books that were picked by more than one member from the list of 15:
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes
Perdido Street Station by China Mieville
Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote
20th Century Ghosts by Joe Hill
One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Marcia Marquez
The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky
Hyperion by Dan Simmons

So, do we wait for 2 more or do we go ahead and start a poll?

choosing

I'm ready to choose
one or two from that last:.
Yell when you want us to vote on the final list!!
Barb down Under :flowers:

I'm probably too late but here's my pick:

The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt

Lunar Park by Bret Easton Ellis

Of course you're not late NotTheDoctor, the more the merrier!

So now we have 9 books:
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes
Perdido Street Station by China Mieville
Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote
20th Century Ghosts by Joe Hill
One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Marcia Marquez
The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky
Hyperion by Dan Simmons
The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler

joderu, do you want to suggest three books out of the 15 or do we go straight to a poll?

Not sure if this idea has already popped up as I've just raced to the last page. Since people are here from all over the world, what about nominating a book that is perhaps emblemic, or award-winning in their country? I can think of quite a few Australian literature examples as I'm sure others can for their own country. Maybe whoever is interested can suggest a book and then we vote on what to read?
