I know that I tend to vanish and show up, vanish and show up, and that probably gets old, but, you all seem to be such patient people. Anyway.
A while ago(I lost track of time) Hurricane Ivan struck the panhandle of florida. The eye wall went right up our bay, we stayed for it and we got to...
This was recently posted in a livejournal community and everytime I read this Fairy Tale I enjoy it more and more, needless to say it's one of, if not my my most, favorite. I've only read different versions none of which are longer than a few pages, just short stories really.
I'd love to get...
That seems to be a pretty common question around here, and I was wondering if it would be possible to add something in the profiles like-
Currently Reading: (insert book here)
Next book: (insert book here)
-or something along those lines. It would offer a way for people to see what others are...
A movie for this really caught my attention, but I would hope the film is true to the books. I'm more than plenty interested in seeing it when it comes out. Opinions?

Tomorow is my dad's birthday, and for a treat we decided for a brunch out at IHOP and he seems to be looking forward to that.
I'm usually not much for breakfast foods, but I make an exception for that place, not to mention I've been craving pancakes for some reason.
Other places I like...
Is there a way to edit my forum preferences so that image signatures don't show up but images posted in threads still do?
I saw an option for leaving out image tags, but I still want to be able to view images posted in threads, just not images in signatures as they can be a bit distracting...
They are my two favorite myth creatures yet I have a difficult time finding many good books that show them as characters, rather then pets or monsters. I have read Song in the Silence and The Lesser Kindred by Elizabeth Kerner(both of which I loved) as well as the Mage War(gryphon) trilogy by...
I do apologize for posting in bits and snippets every few weeks, or even months, but I have returned and I intend on staying this time.
Just to put some point of topic to this thread, am I the only person with a habit of keeping up with something(books, hobbies, games) for a while, then...
Not too far back I re-did my room, ocean/beach theme. Light blue walls, white trim, white and white wicker furniture and dolphins and sea shells all over. I'm still slowly adding more when I can.
Evutally I hope to get the rest of the house, painting and re-aranging the rooms.
Maybe I'm...
I'm pretty sure most of you have heard of The Princess Bride, the movie or the book, anyway. About a year ago I picked up a copy of the book at barnes and nobles, read it, put it on the shelf, after a while I came back and read it again. It "includes the first chapter of the long lost sequal...
Your babies
Those of us that have them, love them... the big sweet eyes, the adorable little feet, the floppy fuzzy ears, I'm talking about our pets of course.
Do you have any? If so what are they like?
How long have you had them and do you like any kind of pet over another?
Feel free to...
People who regularly read manga tend to have different preferences toward it. A lot of people like it flipped, so that it reads the way we're used to, saying it makes it easier to follow. I prefer to have it as it is, reading it the way it was meant to to be read.
What about the rest of you...
After looking for something to read online, I came across parts of The Diary of Lady Sarashina, who was a Japanese noblewoman and a poet. After I read for a few minutes, I became really interested, and I wondered if I could find it as a book, but with a search on both amazon and google I havn't...
Here are a few poems I've written recently. Poetry isn't exactly my forte, but I hope these turned out okay.....

And here in the fading night
Lit only by the waning moon
A parallel can be plainly seen

They're coming up, not too far off at all. So, is anyone doing anything special for the holiday season?
For Thanksgiving here we're just going to have a nice family dinner and then put up the christmas tree, it's sort of a tradition, that we put up the tree on Thanksgiving.
For christmas we...
Lately, on my trips to the bookstore, I've been going right to the section they have for help with writing and publishing. Some of the books seem helpful, but I'm curious about one thing.
I've never read any of the Chicken Soup books, and a lot of people have. There's a Chicken Soup for the...
I just love the numbers of different fantasy characters, and it would be really interesting to live how some of them did in our favorite books. So, if you were a fantasy character... a fantasy you.. what and who would you be? Would you be human, elf, dragon, bard, mage, witch, princess, warrior...
I was working on this as a new short story, and unlike what I usually do, I wasn't aiming for lots of detail and images, but more making a simple story enjoyable to read and getting the reader to pause and think about the meaning for a moment would be icing on the cake.
Now, This is just my...
I woke up today, and I was happy. Now I'm not, For a million reasons that are really no reason at all, I'm just having a blue day. We all have them every now and then, so what do you do to cheer up? I'm sitting here with a candle burning eating chocolate and listening to oldies. This usually...
Okay, I made my day better and went to the bookstore today with my dad. Now, I've been writing, short story type things, poems, songs, long stories, for the past three years, at least, and this book (by Anne Lamott) interested me. So I snatch it up. I'm currently on page fifty-one and I'm...
